Winter Mountain Courses, Tuition, Instruction and Guiding based in Snowdonia, North Wales.

The lure of the mountains in winter is extra special. They feel bigger, more remote and more serious. But in turn that makes the rewards of being out in them for a long mountain journey all the more memorable. You are far more likely to find yourself lost in your own magical world, far removed from the pressures of modern life and a consumerist society. You could be navigating in a white out of snow and cloud where all you can see is the map and compass in front of you. Battling across a wild plateau as the wind whips snow from the surface and tries to knock you off course. Or perhaps more pleasurably you may be yomping across a narrow ridge, frozen snow crunching under your crampons, bathed in sunshine with a sea of cloud beneath you hiding the bustling world down in the valleys. Or being out on a breezy day when the cloud-scapes are constantly changing, one moment you are in an ethereal world of mist and snatched glimpses of distant peaks, the next, the cloud parts, leaving endless views of snow covered summits dappled with a moving blanket of sun and shade.
