Movement & Performance Coaching
For many climbers a very over-looked part of their climbing performance is their movement skills and what goes on in their mind.
On our movement and performance coaching course we forget all about equalising anchors and building belays and look at trying to improve your technical climbing ability.
To allow us to concentrate on movement skills and the mental aspects of climbing without having to worry too much about the safety side of things this course will make use of local climbing walls, outdoor bouldering and sport climbing venues.
Firstly we will look at the fundamental skills to good climbing:
- agility
- balance
- coordination
Then we will go on to develop these on different angles of climbing – slabs, walls and overhangs. In doing so we will look at specific climbing techniques for fluid and economical movement.
We will then go on to consider why everything seems to change as soon as we get on the sharp end and try to lead something. We will start to look at the psychology of climbing and examine some of the fears we have and whether they are rational or not.
For the movement and performance coaching course you should already be leading routes and keen to step up a level.
