Majorca Sport Climbing

The beautiful Mediterranean island of Majorca is one of Europe’s great sport climbing destinations with its magnificent mountains and coastal scenery offering fantastic locations for the many fine crags.

Add to this a fine climate a well established tourist trade and friendly locals and you have an ideal destination for the travelling climber.

The facilities

We normally stay in clean but simple apartments in Santa Ponca approx a 40 minute drive from Malaga airport. Santa Ponca has a good supply of restaurants and cafes and a couple of supermarkets. Breakfast is provided and normally consists of fresh bread, cereal and fruit. Lunch which is also provided will generally be eaten at the crag. During the week a full evening meal will be provided on 3 nights and on the other nights you will have the opportunity to eat out. Meals out are not part of the included price.

We will have a hire car for the week which will pick you up and drop you off at the airport at the beginning and end of your trip.

The Climbing

Majorcas compact size and good network of roads makes it possible to visit any of the crags on the island during the week. The closest crags are only 10-15 minutes and the furthest are no more than an hours drive.

The nature of the climbing is nearly as varied as the character of the different crags. Pleasant slabby routes on perfect compact grey rock. Steep stamina sapping tufas on orange grey and white limestone and classic face climbing on a mixture of pockets and edges.

Sport Climb Coaching or restful holiday?

The main focus of the week is up to you. If a having a holiday is the most important thing then we will ensure that as well as doing as much great climbing as you want that you also have plenty of time to relax and enjoy the island. Alternatively if you wish to focus on progressing your sport climbing we will give you advice and techniques to help you climb more efficiently and improve your grade at the same time.

A typical Week

Day 1      Travel to Majorca
Day 2–7  Climbing with plenty of time for swimming and site seeing
Day 8      Return to UK

To get the most from the climbing on Majorca as a minimum you should be capable of seconding F6a either outside or at the climbing wall. In English trad grades you should be happy seconding to HVS.
