Guiding or Instruction
For all the activities we offer it is possible to offer either a guided day out, or an instructional day. In many cases it is possible to have a day that is a combination of the two. Just explain to us exactly what you are after when you get in touch.
Instruction
An instructional day puts the emphasis on you learning more skills and techniques to become more independent and as such the pace of a day will be slower and the number of routes climbed less. The pace of the day will be dictated by the speed that you learn. If you want to go over something one more time you can.
Guiding
A guided day puts the emphasis on you having an enjoyable and/or challenging day out. The guide takes care of the decision making, route choice, belay building etc and you get to concentrate on the activity itself. It could be that you want to have a ’mileage day’ getting lots of routes done to improve fitness or because you have limited holidays. It could be that there is a particular route that you have always dreamt of doing but need some help making that dream come true. Or it might be that you fancy being pushed into trying something a bit harder than you normally would with someone more experienced to take the lead. The choice is yours.
Mix it up!
That said any day will usually involve a bit of both. Most clients would admit it is impossible to have a day being guided up lots of classic routes and not learn some top tips along the way either about your climbing technique or better stance management. And while you may have said you wanted a days instruction there comes a point when everyone's brain gets over-loaded. At that point its better to just enjoy climbing another route rather than confusing yourself any more
As it is often said the best training for climbing . . . . . . . is climbing!

Ian, many thanks for an outstanding weekend - you judged our ability perfectly and tailored the programme accordingly. We will be talking out that final pitch for a few years to come.....
